Footsteps and Hidden Gems tried something that no one else was doing  at the time, giving our High School female hoopers a chance to shine in front of the colleges in a High School Showcase. We scratched the surface in 2010, and soon we will bring the female showcase back by teaming up with other basketball organizations and sponsors to ensure our numbers so  the ladies get their shot and landing that scholarship outside of school and AAU tournament play…

 ” A Choice to Walk in My New Self”

     The message that I was asked to deliver came from (Matthew 9:9) And as Jesus passed forth thence he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at receipt of custom: and he saith unto him “FOLLOW ME” (KJV)

Jesus called Matthew to be one of his disciples, Matthew got up and followed leaving a lucrative career.  When God calls you to follow or obey him do we do it with much abandon as Matthew?  Sometimes the decision to follow Christ requires difficult or painful choices, but like Matthew me must decide to leave behind the things that keep us from following Christ.(NIV) Breakdown

     Also (Colossians 3:2) “Set your affections on things above not on things on the earth.”(KJV)

Setting our hearts on things above means striving to put heavens priorities into daily practice. setting our minds on the things above means concentrating on the eternal rather than the temporal. (NIV) Breakdown

     In closing; (Colossians 3:8-10) (8)  But now ye also put off all things anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communications out of your mouth (9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds. (10) And have put on a new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.(KJV)

We must rid ourselves of all evil practices and immoralities, then we can commit ourselves to what Christ teaches. Paul was appealing to the commitment that believers made and urging them to remain to their confession of faith. They had to rid themselves of the old life and “PUT ON” the new way of living, and guided by the holy spirit. If you have made such a commitment, make sure you remain true to it. (NIV) Breakdown

     What is it to understand your purpose? (Peace)  What does it mean to be given a responsibility to do Kingdom work? (Favor) What does it mean to be Obedient to the word? (Power) What does it mean to receive all three?  (You are on track to receive your ” Well Done, You Can Come on In” ).  Father I receive the Blessing and I pray for ordered steps in “Changing Lives One Step at a Time”.

Please lift us up at Highpoint Nazarene Church in Delaware as I bring forth a word from our Father to young members of this group. I pray that the word reaches one soul Lord as your Spirit moves over the room. Thank you (Youth Pastor) Trent Fannin for being who you are called to be so you could recognize the God in me. Father God I thank you for your Grace and your Mercy and all you have done for me in spite of me.

Footsteps and The Summer Night Lights Program Look to do big things…

What is Summer Night Lights?

Summer Night Lights is a program to keep the lights on this summer in five parks in neighborhoods identified as high-crime areas. The innovative program will keep the parks open from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, organize sports, art and pool activities for at-risk youth and families, and provide job opportunities and a safe place for teens.

JaxParks and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office will implement Jax Summer Night Lights for eight weeks, beginning mid-June. The program’s goal is to reduce gang activity and crime, offer hope and develop a sense of community and neighborhood pride.

Jax Summer Night Lights will have two major components:

• Extended hours and programming on Fridays and Saturdays for eight weeks June through August. Eight parks will extend their hours until midnight and expand programming to include youth-focused recreation, education and social activities.
• Youth Squad: JaxParks, in coordination with the Mayor’s Summer Jobs Program, will hire 50 at-risk youth age 16-18 to work as community outreach coordinators. Ten youth will be assigned to each site. In addition to receiving stipends and job training, the youth will also participate in an Outward Bound training program.

Residents in each neighborhood will be able to participate in a number of activities, all free of charge. Each park will host basketball games, arts and crafts activities and family competitions.  Saturday nights will serve as entertainment nights featuring a movie in the park, local radio personalities, poets, dancers and more. Swimming pools will be open at four of the five sites with both structured activities and free swim time.

Footsteps is challenging the great City of Columbus to join with Footsteps to create a similar program for the youth right here in Columbus.  We are asking for you to comment if you would like to see such a program here in Columbus.

          It has been a while since we were active in Footsteps, I Demetrius Ross have been taking on task outside of Gods mission.  A distraction such as thinking I could head a professional  football team with someone  I was not evenly yoked with.  During this experience I have seen the devil at work just to fall short of Gods Glory. This has happen both in me and around me.  The lesson I received was in obedience, in everything we do we must be obedient to his word.  I have been pulled out of that situation and had my feet placed back on the path of righteousness.  I understand even more my purpose in life and the work that is required of me.  Please join me over the next few months and help me to get back to Kingdom work. The Lord has place a special task on my heart  giving and creating opportunities.  Let us start by joining resources to put Footsteps in position to make a difference in the life of  those we reach out too, those sent, and those who have no ideal blessings are coming.
